Weekly Highlights for June 26, 2017

I’ve heard from so many families that life is just crazy busy this summer!  I know we live in the part of the country where summer is when we plan to fit nine months of fun into three months because the weather is typically good.  Well, barring this year, as rain seems to be the dominant forecast.  Our staff loves to hear about the ball games, the camping and vacations and oh yes, even about all of those sceeter bites!!   Seriously, I had a little girl this week talk about her bites for five minutes and I loved all of it-so cute!  It really is my favorite part of the job-connecting with our families and being part of this community by offering programs, classes and support where it’s needed.

The stuffed animal sleepover was a huge success!  Check out our website www.robertspubliclibrary.org or the Hazel Mackin Community Library Facebook page to see some of the awesome pictures of stuffed animal fun.

For real animal fun join us on Thursday July 13th, 4:30 pm at the Roberts Park Building we will have Remarkable Reptiles.  If you enjoy amphibians and reptiles including their shells and skins then you will want to join us for some up close and personal education from James Gerholdt.  He was a Zoo Keeper for the Minnesota Zoo for over 25 years.  He also is the author of 32 children’s books so it will be a fun filled afternoon of stories and facts.

Touch-a-Truck: Wednesday, July 19th, 10-1 pm at the Roberts Park.  This is our 4th year for this event and this year will be bigger than ever!  Note that it will not be at the library because our parking lots can’t contain all of the big trucks and equipment we will have.  We are excited to be partnering with the Village of Roberts, the Roberts Police Department, The Roberts Fire Department and Roberts Towing.  We are also excited to have local farmers sharing tractors and other big implements for you to explore.  Plan on spending plenty of time to explore and capture great pictures!

Every week is a different game except the first Friday of each month is Bingo.  Some people come for the entire time and play games and others come just for a treat and some good conversations.

Strong Senior Chair Exercise: This program is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2PM. Come on in and join the movement group! This program will follow a DVD designed to help develop strength and enhance ability to function in daily live, improving stability, balance, and mobility. Feel free to bring small hand weights for a tougher workout.

The parking lot fundraiser is ongoing and the Library Board is currently working toward raising $83,253 to pay off the extended lot and prepare the way for pavement. Your gift would help us provide safe parking for those who attend our growing programs.
